I'm seeing more and more guest hits on the site, I'm wondering though whether these are just crawlers and other bots or are we really seeing more and more traffic but failing slightly to keep the same rate of registrations? If they're bots, is this a sign of tr.justagamer.com's new penetration into the global web? Are more and more people taking notice?

Is there anything big an exciting that could be put on the main page to attract some of these people to sign up? Perhaps a 400wx500h pop-up, with a certain AFS lady, text stating Join the Allied Free Sentients Today! And the neccessary text boxes to register all contained within? - It'd only pop up once when no previous cookie is found, and therefore definately wouldn't show for those all ready signed in.

Evil pop up marketing

I have been thinking of ways to get more people to join, though I should ask our current community what they think this site needs to get more people to sign up.

Oy - had a bit of a rant here - but paid closer attention to the TR main site.

( previously didn't see the tiny links which lead to site listings.....thought they didn't have a site listing.....rant ensued. )

A fairly effective thing, pending you can work it out with the community rep., is hosting an event such as a contest / chat / giveaway, and getting it noted on the official TR site someplace. Naturally, sign up is necessary for participation.

And of course, if there is any way you could coax the community rep into being more active at your site that's always a bonus. There has been a trend with the newer games ( Hellgate : L , Chronicles of Spellborn ) where other members of the development team apart from the designated community rep are being active on various boards. I think this is a great change in community development. Sometimes it feels like we're all lepers and they designate one poor soul to leave the fortress and appease the plauged masses.
